And as a person who watched the second It movie, I know that by the end, spoiler warning, the relationship between Richie and Eddie are at least confirmed on Richie's end, with Riche carving their initials into the kissing bridge after Eddie dies, in the same spot he did when they were children. How do you explain the leper offering Eddie a blowjob as anything other than gay subtext? How do you explain Eddie dying in Richie's arms, with his last words being light, teasing banter with Richie? The answer is that you can't justify either without it being, at least a little bit, gay. Looking back at their childhood, how many people who are just "best friends" pinch the other persons cheek and call them cute? How many "best friends" spend their childhood teasing each other and, in my opinion, flirting almost constantly. If you want to talk about their adult characters, how about Richie hiring an assistant who acts exactly like Eddie because he misses him. He married the woman because that is what he was comfortable with, a woman who worries over him and watches over everything he does. If nobody noticed, he basically married his mom. When playing 1989 Eddie, there won’t be any sexual content There will be mentions of crushes and such, but since the character is only thirteen, it’s not gonna be written out any kind of romantic affection.Everyone needs to stop trying to justify the fact that Eddie isn't gay by saying he married a girl.I’m sure this is a good idea for canons as well, but since they’re established characters in the fandom, with connections to Eddie already, it’ll be a lot easier. When it comes to shipping with OC’s, I’d prefer to thread it all out first, and see what kind of chemistry they have.
